LIMINALITY is my AP art concentration based on the concept of liminal spaces; a place often passed through, but seldom inhabited for extended periods of time. These places are part of our daily lives, but we rush through them so quickly that we don't fully take them in. Because of this, slowing down and looking around a liminal space can often produce an intense feeling of discomfort, nostalgia, or appreciation. The concept of liminality serves as a metaphor for the teenage experience, a time period often passed through but rarely appreciated for its unique beauty. These pieces are photographs with digital painting and mixed media to emphasize the unique feeling of a liminal space.
